The Libramont Agricultural and Food Fair is a major event in Belgium. It is the encounter between professionals from a wide range of sectors and civil society to encourage innovative sustainable solutions for agriculture, forestry and the environment.
As one of the main 2024 Libramont Agricultural and Food Fair’s partners, the Wallonia Public Service of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Environment (SPW ARNE) was committed to raising awareness about agricultural topics among visitors in an unconventional way. They were looking for an escape game!
We jumped at the opportunity to convey a positive and constructive message while creating an entertaining and memorable experience for children, families and farmers.
Thus, we conceived, developed and managed “15 Minutes in Arnold’s Boots”.
The escape game focused on the daily activities of a farmer, called Arnold. Led by 2 facilitators, players had to get in Arnold’s shoes (…well, boots!) to solve the puzzles: correctly milk the sheep, plough the fields, manage water, and estimate the annual production of butter, mozzarella, milk and cheese. Once they solved all the puzzles, they would open a treasure chest and enjoy a dedicated message, and a local gift offered by the SPW ARNE.
Besides the rules of the game, the creation of the escape game also covered the planning of the structure and its exterior and interior design, including the furniture, all the equipment needed for the puzzles and a photobooth to keep a souvenir at the end of the game.
“15 Minutes in Arnold’s Boots” caught so much curiosity that visitors queued to participate. A real success that led to the achievement of SPW ARNE’s primary goal: awareness, proving that learning can be fun and engaging, and ultimately gratifying farmers for their relentless work.
